  • Description

This page goes into a little more detail about Kamen Rider and the Heisei + Neo-Heisei era. It will also have a brief explanation of each Rider that shows up in each page of this project.

  • Japan's Eras'

Besides using the Gregorian calendar like the rest of the world, Japan categorize "eras" by their current leader/emperor and named for the spirit and aspirations of the people at the time. The Heisei era was from 1989-2019 AD, the word comes from two historical books meaning Peace.

  • Neo-Heisei (Phase 2)

Neo-Heisei is something used only for Kamen Rider as it refers to the portion of the Heisei era after Kamen Rider Decade ended. With it, a new release schedule was made for the series and began it's more localization in the western hemisphere-along with riders now having a transformation "gimmick" for their shows

There is a total of 20 Riders within the Heisei era, here I will give a small description of the premise of the Riders on the home page (Featured and below).

Blade:Ten thousand years ago, a massive battle known as the Battle Royal was fought by fifty-two Undead, each representing a species fighting for dominance over all others. The winner was the Human Undead, known as Category Two of Hearts, giving dominion of the Earth to humanity. In the present day, archaeologists discover the sealed Undead, and accidentally set them free. Thus, a new Battle Royal begins.

Ghost:Takeru Tenkūji, whose father was a ghost hunter who died 10 years earlier, dies at the hands of an evil monster known as a Gamma while trying to protect his childhood friend Akari Tsukimura from an attack. A mysterious hermit brings Takeru back to life and bestows upon him the Ghost Driver transformation belt and a Ghost Eyecon, an orb-shaped device which can see ghostly creatures like spirits of dead creatures, Gamma, and other Riders. The hermit tells Takeru that he has 99 days to gather 15 additional heroic Eyecons in order to be brought back to life permanently, and must fight the Gamma as Kamen Rider Ghost to obtain them.

Kiva:Twenty-two years after the disappearance of his father, Wataru Kurenai lives in an infamous “haunted house” where he is destined as Kamen Rider Kiva to fight life-draining monsters called Fangires, the very race his father fought years ago before his disappearance. Wataru must also deal with Kamen Rider Ixa who is part of an organization seeking to destroy the Fangire menace, as well as the Fangires’ own Rider, Kamen Rider Saga. The story is split between the actions of Wataru in the present (2008–09) and his father Otoya in the past (1986–87), slowly revealing the link between the Fangire race and Kiva.

OOO:Eiji Hino is a traveling man who has no place to call home and a tragic past. When metallic creatures known as the Greeed awaken after their 800-year slumber to attack humans and feed off of their desires, the disembodied arm of the Greeed named Ankh gives Eiji a belt and three Medals to fight the other Greeed as Kamen Rider OOO.

Drive:Shinnosuke Tomari is a former elite police officer in the Metropolitan Police, who, after an event that crippled one of his colleagues, has been “demoted” into the Special Investigations Division. This division looks into the stranger happenings in the city, particularly the recent “Density Shift” events. These events, termed “Slowdown” by the public, leave people unable to move. When he is chosen by the Drive Driver and Tridoron, Shinnosuke transforms into Kamen Rider Drive and is tasked with battling the Roidmudes who plan to rise against humanity and take over the world. He is aided by Kiriko Shijima and her brother Go, who transforms into Kamen Rider Mach.

Faiz:The Rider Gears are stolen by Hanagata, the Goat Orphnoch and former chief of Smart Brain. He sends them to his foster children (dubbed the “Ryuseiji”, after the school they attended) so they can stop the Orphnoch from achieving their goal. However, Rider Gears were designed to be worn by Orphnoch, and humans are unable to activate the systems without undergoing genetic modification.

Build:Ten years ago, a Martian expedition crew brought a mysterious artifact nicknamed the “Pandora Box” to Earth. The artifact was activated during a national conference which caused a massive catastrophe in the form of a Skywall which split Japan into three regions: Seito in the west, Hokuto in the north, and Touto in the east, with each region holding onto the fragments of the Pandora Box. In the present day, a genius physicist named Sento Kiryū is hired by the government-funded Touto Institute of Advanced Matter Physics in uncovering the Pandora Box’s secrets. But Sento, having no memory of his past other than being held captive by the mysterious Night Rogue of the Faust organization, secretly moonlights on the side as Kamen Rider Build to fight the Smash monsters created from victims of Faust’s experiments. Aided by cafe owner Sōichi Isurugi and his daughter Misora, who can purify Smash elements, Sento also befriended a framed fugitive named Ryūga Banjō who escaped while being experimented on by Faust and who eventually gained the ability to transform into Kamen Rider Cross-Z.

Fourze:Amanogawa High School has become the center of strange happenings, and things only get stranger when the bad boy-styled transfer student Gentaro Kisaragi attempts to make friends in his own way, reuniting with childhood friend and self-professed space travel otaku Yuki Jojima, all while gaining the ire of loner Kengo Utahoshi. When the campus becomes overrun with monstrous constructs called Zodiarts, Kengo and Yuki attempt to use the strange devices they have found in the Rabbit Hatch lunar base that they access through a locker in an off-limits part of campus to fight them. However, Gentaro interferes in their plans, in part due to Kengo’s body unable to handle the strains of battle, and uses the devices to transform into Fourze.

Kabuto:Seven years prior to the series, a meteorite struck the Shibuya district in Tokyo. An alien lifeform, known as the Worms, emerged from the meteorite and became a threat to humanity. Souji Tendou has been trained for seven years while waiting for the Kabuto Zecter so that he may properly take up the mantle of Kamen Rider Kabuto.

Wizard:Six months prior to the start of the series, a mysterious ritual held on the day of the solar eclipse took place. Its purpose was to give birth to a group of magical creatures called Phantoms through humans with magical potential called “Gates”, by forcibly subjecting them to immense despair. Haruto Soma, the survivor of the ritual, and Koyomi, a mysterious girl who has lost all of her memories, are tasked by the mysterious White Wizard to fight the Phantoms.

Ryuki:Thirteen Card Decks were created for thirteen Kamen Riders. They make Contracts with monsters from the mysterious Mirror World, a parallel dimension opposite to our own in which only the Kamen Riders can exist. The Riders draw on their monsters’ strength in exchange for feeding them the life force of the creatures they destroy. The creator of the Advent Cards has only one rule: that there can be only one Kamen Rider. The others must be killed, and the sole victor will be granted a single wish, which leads to a conflict known as the Rider War.

W:In the ecologically-minded city of Futo, where nearly everything is powered by windmills, the people live in harmony. However, the Sonozaki Family sell mysterious devices resembling USB flash drives called Gaia Memories to criminals and other interested parties who use them to become monsters called Dopants, committing crimes with the police force powerless to stop them.
